Mickey Mouse is a beloved animated cartoon character and serves as the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1928 at the Walt Disney Studios, Mickey is an anthropomorphic mouse typically depicted wearing red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. Over the years, he has become one of the most iconic and recognizable characters worldwide.
Mickey made his debut in a test screening short titled *Plane Crazy*. His official debut occurred in the groundbreaking sound cartoon *Steamboat Willie* (1928). Throughout his career, Mickey has starred in more than 130 films, including notable titles such as *The Band Concert* (1935), *Brave Little Tailor* (1938), and *Fantasia* (1940). While he predominantly appeared in short films, Mickey also featured in some feature-length productions.
Ten of Mickey’s cartoons received Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Short Film, with *Lend a Paw* winning the award in 1942. In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
